City installs 58 fish habitats at Government Springs with $5,000 state matching grant

"We were one of two cities in the state that got this grant," a parks staff member said, noting the grant was a 50–50 match: the city paid $2,500 and the state paid $2,500 and installed the structures.
Staff described the habitats as PVC assemblies with PVC angle arms weighted by cinder blocks and said they range in size, including larger 5-foot units for deeper water and shorter 3-foot units for shallower areas. The city has been added to the state’s Close-to-Home fishing program and staff said the state will stock the lakes quarterly and publish the habitat locations on its website.
No formal action was required; staff presented the grant outcome and installation details as an informational update.
