Council sets schedule to hear CDBG loan grievance appeal; hearing to be held week of July 18

The Auburn City Council on June 17 acknowledged receipt of a grievance appeal from Bridget Gibson concerning a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) home rehabilitation loan made in February 2007 to her mother, Ella Reese.
Mayor Pro Tem Anders read a statement explaining that Ms. Gibson seeks loan forgiveness rather than repayment on her mother’s behalf and that the matter had proceeded through the city’s administrative grievance process to this final appeal stage. Anders asked councilmembers to provide availability to the city manager’s office by the end of the work week so staff could schedule a specially called meeting for a hearing during the week of July 18.
The mayor said the city attorney’s office will coordinate the city’s response and that the council will have up to 15 days after the hearing to issue a decision. Anders also reminded councilmembers that deliberations and any final vote would need to take place in a public meeting subject to the state Open Meetings Act.
No hearing date was set at the meeting; staff will follow up with council availability and then publish a meeting notice and hearing materials.
