Council approves city procurements for pool dehumidifier, stadium lighting and game‑day law enforcement contract

The Auburn City Council authorized a set of procurement contracts on June 17 for municipal facilities and event support.
The council approved a contract with Train US, Inc. in the amount of $314,427 to manufacture and supply a pool dehumidification unit for Lake Wilmore Park. Staff noted the equipment’s long lead time and said an installation contract for doors and ductwork will be bid separately.
The council also approved a $121,900 construction contract with Floyd Services Company Inc. to install a Musco sports lighting system at the Arbor Tennis Center indoor courts. Councilmembers confirmed the bidding process and responsiveness of proposers; one of three bidders was disqualified for failing to submit a required addendum.
Separately, the council approved a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute game-day contracts with the Auburn Game Day Law Enforcement Corporation and area public-safety agencies to provide supplemental law enforcement at Auburn University sporting events for the 2025–2026 year. Public Safety Director Will Matthews explained the corporation was created in 2016 to centralize insurance, contracting and payroll functions for outside agencies that support event policing; city manager serves as corporation president and the university reimburses the city for these event-related expenses.
All three items passed on voice votes after brief staff explanations and limited council questions.
