Grant County Fiscal Court approves minutes, appoints road worker, clears surplus list and holds one jail medical claim pending verification

The Grant County Fiscal Court on June 17, 2025, completed several routine administrative actions: it approved the regular meeting minutes from June 3 and special meeting minutes from June 10; approved claims and transfers dated June 17, 2025 with one exception; appointed a new road department worker; approved a surplus list for the county detention facility; and approved a training-incentive payment under House Bill 18.
The court approved the minutes of June 3 and June 10 after a motion that was seconded and carried on a voice vote. The court then moved to claims and transfers dated June 17, 2025; the judge asked staff to verify one medical claim from the detention center because of uncertainty about the date of service and whether the state or county is responsible for payment. Officials said the outstanding claim was “just over a thousand dollars,” and the jail was still checking the date; the court approved the remaining claims and transfers and indicated it would hold or adjust payment on that single claim if further verification changed the amount or the funding responsibility.
The court appointed Bobby Callahan to the Grant County Road Department, effective June 23, 2025; the motion to appoint was made and seconded and approved by voice vote.
The court approved a surplus list (attachment A) from the Grand Canyon Detention Center. Officials said much of the list contains broken equipment slated for destruction (hard drives drilled out) or items to be sold at public auction. The county plans to schedule a consolidated public auction around August and invited local entities such as the City of Williamstown and Dry Ridge to participate to reduce advertising costs and attract larger crowds.
The court also approved payment for a House Bill 18 training incentive for Tanya Beagle and offered congratulations for completing the training.
Officials said they will follow up on the held jail medical claim and a final payment decision may be made after the clerk verifies the date of service and whether the state should reimburse the county for the expense.
