Grant County Judge Executive Chuck Dills opened a special meeting to seek approval of an emergency bridge replacement and related funding steps, saying, “I received the MOU and the resolution for the Fords Mill Road, emergency replacement of that bridge.”
The county approved Resolution 2025-04, authorizing emergency replacement of the Fords Mill Road bridge, and separately authorized Judge Executive Chuck Dills to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to secure the project funding. Commissioners moved and seconded both items and the motions passed by voice vote.
Why it matters: county officials said work is already under way; Dills told attendees that crews were setting beams the same day and that completing approvals quickly would allow Grant County to receive funding tied to the replacement.
At the meeting the first motion — to approve Resolution 2025-04 (emergency bridge replacement on Fords Mill Road) — was made by Mr. Codar and seconded by Mr. Riley. The board voted in favor and the motion carried.
The second motion, to authorize Judge Executive Chuck Dills to sign the memorandum of understanding with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for the emergency bridge replacement, was made by Mr. Riley and seconded by Mr. Humphrey. That motion also passed by voice vote.
Officials discussed scheduling upcoming meetings and the county budget second reading. Dills said the second reading of the budget “will come out in the paper this Thursday on the twelfth because of the paper deadlines,” and noted a seven-day public-notice requirement before the next meeting. The group agreed to set the second reading at 9 a.m. in person at the courthouse on the date discussed at the meeting.
The special meeting concluded after the motions were approved; the judge adjourned the session.
