Assessor: sales‑ratio uploads underway for 2025 roll; office will not renew TrueRoll exemption software

The LaSalle County assessor reported June 17 that assessors met the June 15 deadline to submit files for the sales‑ratio study (tax years 2022–24 to be applied to the 2025 tax year) and that county staff are uploading the submissions; the upload process can take up to two weeks before township cleanup and the roll to the supervisor of assessments.

The assessor said training for payroll and the GIS supervisor has begun; training for the assessor’s own job has not started because of the busy season. The office plans interviews later this month for a replacement staffer; the assessor expects an appointment by late summer depending on interview outcomes.

On software, the assessor told the committee the office will not renew its TrueRoll exemption contract. Staff said TrueRoll was used to find past exemption issues dating back multiple years; the office believes it has resolved the backlog and that ongoing maintenance can be handled in‑house with current procedures. Eliminating TrueRoll reduces the assessor’s software line from roughly $42,005 to about $11,001 in next year’s budget, a decrease the assessor said helps contain costs while staffing transitions occur.

The assessor presented a budget with a slight net decrease overall; the committee approved forwarding the assessor’s budget request to the finance committee.
