Board selects Ronald Recinto to fill trustee vacancy after interview process

The Farmington Public School District Board of Education on June 17 selected Ronald Recinto to fill a vacancy on the board after interviewing a slate of community applicants.
President Terry Weems described the search and interview process: multiple candidates applied, several were deemed ineligible, and the board interviewed 11 candidates on June 12. Weems read the names of the interview pool into the public record and thanked applicants for their willingness to serve. "I was pretty impressed with the caliber of folks that are seeking appointment," she said, and then called for trustees to name their top three candidates. Trustees wrote their choices and later ranked their top two; the board's tally produced Recinto as the top candidate. Trustee Claudia Heinrich thanked all applicants and urged continued community engagement even if a candidate was not appointed.
Board members said they considered representation, skill sets needed for upcoming priorities (including facilities planning and community engagement), and the district's existing board composition as they weighed candidates. Weems said the district will contact Recinto to begin onboarding and noted the board may draw from the same candidate pool if another vacancy arises before year'end.
