Elmhurst council adopts IDOT resolution for Park Avenue bridge rehab; approves Craft Beer Fest permit

The Elmhurst City Council on June 16, 2025, voted to adopt an Illinois Department of Transportation resolution required for the Park Avenue bridge rehabilitation project and approved the Public Affairs & Safety Committee’s recommendation to issue a temporary use permit and a Class D liquor license for the Elmhurst Craft Beer Fest scheduled for Sept. 13, 2025.

Alderman Brand moved to put the Park Avenue resolution on the council agenda and Alderman Urbie seconded; the roll call recorded 12 ayes, 0 nays and 2 absent for resolution 8.1. The resolution authorizes city execution of the IDOT form for improvements under the Illinois Highway Code and is tied to motor fuel tax and Rebuild Illinois funding processes for the Park Avenue Bridge rehabilitation.

Separately, the council took up Item 6.13 on the council floor after the consent agenda and adopted the Public Affairs & Safety Committee’s recommendation to approve the Elmhurst Craft Beer Fest permit and associated Class D liquor license. The report before the council noted the event supports the Elmhurst Heritage Foundation and the Elmhurst History Museum. A committee chair and members disclosed participation on the festival committee; Alderman Baker said she was serving on the festival committee and the chair advised that was not viewed as a disqualifying conflict. The council adopted the report and moved to the next agenda items.
