Saint Charles Parish issues notice to proceed for 2025 asphalt maintenance covering more than 20 roads

Miles, a staff member involved with the program, said the parish has a budget for annual maintenance and that the contractor (identified in the remarks as Barrie Construction) has historically provided a favorable price. He said the parish added additional streets to the contract bid and that the first change order will include those added streets. "Barier has always given us a good price on the asphalt, which allows us to go back and reassess and add streets as we can," Miles said.
Councilwoman Wilson asked specifically about Paul Frederick Street. Miles and other staff said the section from Brooklyn to Hackberry has been held back until planned drainage improvements — including culverts across the road — are completed so the road will not be repaved and then torn up. "Once we have those drainage improvements ... we will be doing that street and putting in the level of service that the people in that area deserve," Miles said.
The parish said residents on streets scheduled for work will receive door hangers from the contractor before work begins and the parish will publish a list of streets included in the project.
