Parish President Jewell told the council the parish recently acquired the Cross Bayou pump station on Airline Highway in Destrehan from the Pontchartrain Levee District and has prioritized upgrades to improve reliability.
Jewell said the parish installed new fuel tanks and telemetry that allows remote monitoring of fuel levels; she described that as part of bringing the station to parish standards. "We're bringing this station to our standard, which we believe, is a higher standard and has it integrates much more technology into the station," Parish President Jewell said. She also said the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built the station and that the parish is upgrading it to the parish's operating standards.
No cost, contract details or specific timeline for further upgrades were provided in the remarks.
