The City Commission of the City of Lake Wales approved Ordinance 2025-06 on second reading, granting a franchise for solid-waste collection, recycling and disposal services within the city.

City staff read the ordinance title during the meeting; it amends Chapter 17 of the City Code, provides findings, definitions, terms and conditions for the franchise and sets rates. The ordinance also repeals earlier ordinances and includes a business-impact estimate, severability and an effective date.

No members of the public spoke during the public hearing portion for this item. The commission took a roll-call vote; the recorded votes were unanimous in favor. The ordinance will become effective per its terms and replace prior franchise ordinances listed in the title.
