Parks, permits and short‑term rentals: commission orders standard enforcement steps, forwards reappointment

"We've issued 4 mobile food vendors A and P permits since last month," Denise said, and added that Scooter's Coffee has been permitted for Oak Street. Denise said short‑term rental permitting is difficult to track: she reported 32 Airbnbs with city permits but noted third‑party listing sites show more listings and that many hosts book through those sites, making accurate counts difficult.
Commission staff described the delinquent business list and recent enforcement work. Staff said Anchoredown Ice, Del Soria and El Grocery Store resolved their outstanding issues after citations; Love's Donuts was noted as caught up. The Kohana Asian restaurant’s mailed notices were returned and staff said they are using an alternate home address for contact; another vendor listed for prior citation did not appear at a May 28 court date, staff said.
A commissioner moved to adopt the commission’s standard 30/60/90‑day enforcement schedule for code enforcement delinquents; a second was recorded and the motion passed by voice vote.
On appointments, staff said Jose’s first partial term was expiring and that he was eligible to serve a full term. A motion to forward Jose’s nomination to the City Council for a full four‑year term passed by voice vote.
Commissioners discussed loss of two restaurants (Volstead Proper and Verona Italian) and noted staff generally do not receive formal notice when a restaurant closes; staff said they will continue tracking delinquent accounts and follow the code enforcement schedule approved by the commission.
