Springdale Airport reports runway painting complete, hangar occupancy and equipment damage; insurance claim and tower remodel planned

Equipment damage and insurance: James (airport operations staff) reported a recent lightning strike damaged the airport's packing regulators; technicians advised the parts are too old to repair, and staff expects replacement to be costly. James said the airport will likely file an insurance claim for the damage.
Grant refund and funds: James also reported receipt of a $400,000 check delivered by an Arkansas aeronautics representative as a grant refund tied to a hangar project; staff confirmed the funds were deposited.
Tower remodel: Staff said the tower is scheduled for remodeling in early June; final scope and potential HVAC upgrades depend on what is discovered once cabinetry and wiring are opened during work.
Facilities for overnight pilots and visitors: Summit representatives described a finished upstairs lounge and a restroom with a shower available for overnight pilots; they suggested offering the lounge as a lockable workspace to military personnel if a Guard presence is confirmed.
