The Springdale City Council on May 27 authorized a guaranteed maximum price for the Jean George Boulevard (50th Street) construction project after competitive bids produced lower‑than‑expected estimates.

Jeff Watson, Finance Committee chair, presented the item and noted the apparent difference between estimates and bids: "I enjoyed that, about 5,000,000 under what we thought or what the estimates were, so that's, let's see if we can keep that going," Watson said. The resolution authorizes execution of the GMP for Project No. 23BPS4.

Council members voted unanimously, 6‑0, to approve the GMP and proceed with the construction contract. Staff noted the low bid will allow the city to proceed without increasing the project appropriation and highlighted continued coordination with utility companies and contractors during construction.

The resolution and packet identify the project as Jean George Boulevard North (50th Street) improvements under project number 23BPS4; staff explained scope, schedule and contract administration would follow standard project‑management procedures.
