Commission approves final adoption of revised live-bait rules (Title 22 Part 6)

On June 17 the commission recorded staff updates that the proposed revisions to Title 22 Part 6 (live-bait regulations) have progressed through the notice stage and were ready for final filing following the Secretary of State process.
Jason Saucier, representing the Office of Marine Fisheries, told commissioners that after the commission recommended the changes on May 22 the executive director approved them and the notice of proposed regulation was filed with the Secretary of State on May 22. The notice appeared in The Sun Herald on June 1 and on the DMR website; staff reported no public comments were received.
"At this time, the proposed regulation will be filed with the Secretary of State's office for final adoption," Saucier said. He told the commission the proposed effective date will be 30 days after filing for final adoption, consistent with administrative timelines.
A motion to adopt the proposed regulation for final filing was moved and seconded, and commissioners voted in favor. The department advised stakeholders that, once the Secretary of State stamps the final filing, the rules can go into effect 30 days thereafter.
