County executive highlights transit, housing and public-safety priorities in quarterly address

County Executive Sara Innamorato delivered her second quarterly address of 2025 to Allegheny County Council on June 12, focusing on threats from federal budget cuts and local steps to protect transit, housing and public-safety programs.

Innamorato opened by reaffirming the county’s support for LGBTQ and immigrant residents and criticizing recent federal actions that she said are disrupting local programs. “Shutting [Job Corps] down with less than 30 days notice … putting financially vulnerable young people out on the streets … that is cruelty,” she said.

The core of her address warned that proposed federal budget cuts could hit several county priorities. She flagged the abrupt federal decision to close Job Corps, saying Pittsburgh is one of 99 Job Corps campuses nationally and that the program provides housing, tuition and training for vulnerable youth. She also warned of possible cuts to AmeriCorps, refugee resettlement funding and Department of Justice grants that support violence-interruption work.
