The Lowndes County Board of Commissioners approved an emergency repair contract with Reliable Construction to replace fascia and the roof at the Hay Hire Health Department for $25,340.
County Manager Robin Dukes said the county remains on lists for contractors after recent hurricanes and verified that the Hay Hire facility is still in active use by the health department. Dukes said staff obtained final pricing the day of the meeting and requested the board proceed under emergency guidelines to schedule the work as soon as possible. “We can move forward under the emergency guidelines,” Dukes said.
The board approved the contract by voice vote; a second was recorded and the chair declared the motion carried.
Why it matters: The repair is described as an emergency response to hurricane-related damage; timely repairs help ensure continued use of a county health facility.
Next steps: Staff will schedule Reliable Construction to perform the repairs and return with any required documentation to the board.
