Bradford County weighs Schneider Electric plan to use solar savings for courthouse, jail repairs

Bradford County commissioners on June 17 heard a presentation from Schneider Electric outlining a bundled program that would install solar panels, replace building lighting and pay for deferred maintenance at county facilities using projected energy savings and federal tax incentives.
The proposal, presented by Larry Perrin of Schneider Electric, would install rooftop solar and LED upgrades at several county buildings and use the resulting utility savings — together with an $800,000 federal investment tax credit and an approximately $350,000 ARPA contribution as a down payment — to fund repairs the county has deferred for years. Perrin said the company’s analysis shows a guaranteed operating-cost reduction over 20 years and additional value if panels perform through 30 years.
