Robinson city council on Tuesday approved a specific-use permit to allow temporary recreational vehicle lodging at 119 North McClendon Drive while a homeowner builds a permanent residence.
The council enacted ordinance 2025-018 to allow the RV use in the SF-2 single-family residential district for a 0.557-acre lot (McLennan County Appraisal District parcel 159723). The approval includes three conditions: the RV lodging may commence only after a building permit for the principal residence has been issued; the RV may remain only for the life of that building permit; and the RV must be removed before the city issues a certificate of occupancy.
City planner David described the request as temporary and noted the RV—identified in staff materials as a 1986 Fleetwood Southwind Class A motorhome—would be sited furthest from neighboring homes and can connect to utilities. “I don’t foresee that being an issue, especially being a temporary use for the duration of the building permit,” David said. Staff noted the city code limits building permits to an initial six‑month term, with extensions possible at the discretion of the building official; council members discussed that extensions can effectively lengthen the total time an RV could remain without returning to council unless the council adds a separate condition.
Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval 6-0 with the same staff conditions. The council adopted the ordinance and appended the three conditions to tie the RV occupancy strictly to the building-permit lifecycle.
