Brazosport ISD holds public hearing on federal grants for 2025–26; district outlines Title and IDEA allocations

Brazosport ISD held a public hearing to inform residents about the district’s planned federal grant applications for the 2025–26 school year, including Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV, Perkins Career and Technical Education, and IDEA formula grants.
A staff presentation explained program purposes and preliminary planning amounts the district expects to request: Title II Part A planning amount of $428,263; Title III planning amount of $140,010; Title IV Part A planning amount of $194,365; Perkins V planning amount of $128,952; IDEA formula grant planning amount of $2,591,960; and IDEA-B Preschool planning amount of $74,500. The presenter also described Title I schoolwide designations (a campus must have at least 40% economically disadvantaged students), noting Brackenswood High School at 51.9% and Lake Jackson Intermediate at 50.29% meet that threshold and that the district overall reported an economically disadvantaged rate of 64.87% for the coming year.
Staff explained intended uses: Title I funds for campus-level intervention, tutorials, salaries for intervention teachers and paraeducators, instructional materials, professional development and support for homeless students; Title II funds to support content specialists and professional development; Title III funds for services to English learners including bilingual instructional coaching and parent-family engagement; Title IV funds for health and safety staff, professional development and technology access; Perkins funds for industry-standard equipment, certifications and CTE teacher professional development; and IDEA funds for qualified special-education staff, assessment and individualized education plans.
The hearing notice was posted May 29 and published June 6 to allow stakeholder input; staff invited questions and comments from the board and audience. Board members asked about declines in some grant amounts; the presenter explained federal grant pools can stay flat or decline while the district’s eligible population increases, producing smaller per-student allocations. After questions the public hearing was closed with no votes required on the applications at this meeting.
