SNOQUALMIE, Wash. ' The Snoqualmie Planning Commission on June 16 reviewed a draft climate element prepared by consultants and staff, debated the structure and specificity of the resilience goals, and agreed by consensus to transmit the draft to the Washington State Department of Commerce with provisional greenhouse-gas reduction targets of 10% by 2030 and 20% by 2040.
The draft, prepared by consultant OTEC and discussed with the Climate Planning Advisory Team (CPAT), breaks the element into three subparts: an introduction, a resilience subelement, and a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction subelement. Christina (consultant) told the commission, “this is a very early draft,” and Director Mona Davis reminded the commission the city must submit materials by the end of June to secure grant funding from the state Department of Commerce.
