The board voted to approve a memorandum of understanding with Natural Circles of Support (NCOS) to extend cooperative work through Dec. 31 while the district transitions program responsibilities.
Aaron told the board the NCOS project began under a five‑year, $1,000,000 community impact grant and that the district is now in the final half of the grant period. He said the agreement approved by the board keeps NCOS as a consultant while the district assumes operational responsibilities for mentoring circles and other activities to ensure long‑term sustainability.
The recommended MOU is similar to the prior agreement but shortened to cover the remainder of the calendar year and revised to reflect that some activities previously tied to a now‑vacant diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging coordinator will be carried out by other district staff. The MOU anticipates a final comprehensive project report when the grant period concludes.
Board member Howie moved approval; Fisher seconded. The board approved the MOU by voice vote; no roll‑call tally was recorded in the public minutes.
The vote authorizes the district to proceed with the transition and with the consultant role for NCOS through Dec. 31. Staff will receive and review the final project report at the end of the grant.
