ADRC staff provided program-level statistics and staffing updates for services through April. The elder benefit specialist reported $223,779 in monthly financial impact and a year-to-date fiscal impact of $1,289,782 from client contacts, figures presented to the advisory committee. The disability benefit specialist reported April financial impact of $178,060 and year-to-date impact of $439,279, and is handling appeals and new applications for disability benefits.
Social workers reported 317 new referrals year-to-date and 169 face-to-face visits. Staff said functional eligibility screens for long-term care programs are time-consuming (a screen can take three to seven hours) and that staff administered 52 functional screens in the reporting window. The dementia care specialist runs support groups, book clubs and monthly office hours in Hillsboro; staff referenced community partners and new local programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Staff announced personnel changes: Jessica Hansen Emmick, the nutrition coordinator, has submitted her resignation with a last day next Friday (as discussed in the meeting) and the ADRC has posted an open driver position for Hillsboro that has been listed for three weeks. Committee members emphasized the internal team’s ability to cover duties during turnover.
Community outreach highlights included a senior fair on May 7 with about 52 vendors and roughly 350 attendees, a pop-up dining site piloted at the fair (counted toward the ADRC’s aging plan), and planned outreach events for farmers-market coupon distribution across county communities. Staff also reported participation in statewide advocacy days: disability advocacy day (virtual) and aging advocacy day in Madison, where the committee sent staff and specialists to meet with legislators and staff.
Staff reminded the committee the ADRC’s aging plan runs 2025–2027 and includes goals on nutrition/pop-up dining, transportation awareness, evidence-based health promotion (strong bodies, Tai Chi, Walk With Ease) and caregiver supports. The ADRC continues to pursue partnerships and training to expand respite and caregiver options.
