The Lakewood Board of Education approved several business items on single-reading roll-call votes during its June 16 meeting.
The board approved a one-year agreement with Securitas Security Services USA Inc. to provide six officers for 180 days at Lakewood High School and other district properties for the 2025–26 school year. The contract includes an option to renew through a competitive RFP process.
The board exercised the second and final one-year renewal option for the Brewer Garrett Company contract for HVAC preventative maintenance, water treatment and building automation monitoring for July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, at an annual cost of $133,716.
The district approved continued membership in the Ohio Schools Council cooperative for the 2025–26 school year to participate in group purchasing and energy procurement; the membership fee was $200 plus 18¢ per student for a total of $952.04 for fiscal year 2026. The board also approved continuing property, fleet and liability coverage through the Schools of Ohio Risk Sharing Authority (SORSA) with a total premium for property and liability coverage of $416,077 for fiscal year 2026.
During the meeting the board also approved personnel resolutions, addenda to master service agreements with substitute-staffing and dedicated-school-staffing vendors, and benefit-package revisions; those items passed on voice or roll-call votes as described on the agenda.
