School Committee approves appointment of Dr. Beth Regalbuto as assistant superintendent of finance

The Brockton School Committee unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Beth Regalbuto as assistant superintendent of finance (title change from chief financial officer) on June 17.
Superintendent Dr. Tseliani recommended Dr. Regalbuto, noting her prior experience as superintendent of the Southern Berkshire Regional School District where she managed a $19 million budget and earlier business leadership roles overseeing a $45 million operating budget. "Doctor Regalbuto brings extensive leadership experience in both educational and financial administration," the superintendent said.
Dr. Regalbuto, who was present at the meeting, told the committee she is "super excited" to return to school business leadership and cited a 30-year background that includes classroom and performing-arts experience and a focus on transparency and collaboration. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership, a master's degree in organizational management and a bachelor's in accounting, the superintendent said.
The appointment motion was made by Mrs. Azak and seconded by Mr. Gomes. The roll-call vote was unanimous: Missus Sullivan — yes; Mr. Gomes — yes; Mr. Vega — yes; Mrs. Azak — yes; Mr. Sullivan — yes; Chair (Tony Rodriguez) — yes; Mrs. Oliver (remote) — yes.
The committee also voted unanimously to change the position title from chief financial officer to assistant superintendent of finance, a change the superintendent said aligns with industry practice for districts of Brockton's size and better reflects the role's leadership responsibilities. Dr. Regalbuto is scheduled to begin in August; interim CFO Trish Boyer will remain to assist the transition. No financial terms were read into the public record during the meeting.
