East Troy board approves Lynch Engineering design for Main Street sidewalk

The Village Board approved a proposal from Lynch Engineering to design a new five-foot concrete sidewalk on the south side of Main Street from the square toward the Overlook Ridge development.
Staff said the board expects design work in 2025 and construction in 2026, and that a formal agreement with the county will be required because the proposed alignment falls within county right-of-way. Staff also noted parts of the walk may “jog slightly to accommodate needs of staircases and things like that coming off a porch.”
Board members raised concerns about proximity to an adjacent house where a porch and a recently installed retaining wall may complicate construction. Staff said they had done a preliminary review of right-of-way width and expect Lynch Engineering can design the sidewalk to accommodate porches and retaining walls. The firm’s design fee cited in discussion was $23,696.
A motion to approve the Lynch Engineering proposal was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said they will proceed with the design and follow the county agreement process before construction funding or scheduling is finalized.
