Alpharetta council directs staff to phase out city-run dumpsters at Alpharetta Commons

City Administrator Mister Lagerblum told the Alpharetta City Council on June 16 that nine dumpsters behind Alpharetta Commons on Milton Avenue and Roswell Street have become a roughly $10,000–$11,000 monthly expense the city has been subsidizing.
The dumpsters were placed after a 2021 invitation to bid and have served restaurants, retail and offices in the block, Lagerblum said. He told council the original user-fee formula—nonrestaurant users paying $100 per month with the remaining cost split among restaurants—has eroded as participation dropped and contamination charges increased, which drove up the monthly bill.
