Board grants extension and final payments under PACE program; two rehab projects receive final disbursements

Madison — The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a 12-month extension for renovation work at 118 West Fifth Street and authorized final payments under the city’s PACE rehabilitation program for two completed properties.
Nicole, a city PACE program staff member, told the board Dave Patterson is restoring the building at 118 West Fifth Street and requested a 12-month extension that would set a new deadline of July 15, 2026. Staff reported no prior extensions on that property and recommended the extension based on visible progress and the scope of remaining work. A board member said the property had been in a dilapidated state for years and supported the longer extension to allow completion.
The board also approved final disbursement requests for two dilapidated-structure grants. Staff reported the exterior work at 604 Mulberry Street is finished and the applicant requested the remaining $12,500. For 1016 West Second Street, staff confirmed brick and masonry, paint removal, painting, exterior wood detail repairs and window repairs were completed and recommended the full $7,500 final payment. The board approved both final payments by motion and voice vote.
During the PACE discussion, one board member asked staff to ensure the final paperwork includes both signatures on the cover sheet; staff said they were updating the form to include the final signatory fields. No public objections were raised at the meeting.
The board’s actions will allow the property owners to receive final PACE disbursements and provide additional time for the 118 West Fifth Street renovation to reach its new deadline.
