Dolton official thanks supporters after winning another term, urges residents to keep voting

An elected official in Dolton thanked family and supporters after winning another term and urged residents to keep voting in all elections, saying the past three and a half years had “brought our community together.”

The official, who did not give a full name in the remarks, said the support of relatives and local colleagues helped during difficult moments and repeated the refrain “stay the course.” “When I came home and cried, when my blood pressure was high … I can call them and say, I see, just pray with me,” the elected official said.

The speaker said the last 3 1/2 years had been challenging but taught residents to understand one another and to act as a support system. They thanked other elected officials who “called us and say, we see what’s happening. We’re praying for your community,” and named local colleagues, including Jason, Jaime, Ed, Britney, Gabby and Tammy.
