Iredell County commissioners voted to approve a set of revisions to the county personnel ordinance that update benefits, leave rules and pay procedures; Human Resources asked that the changes take effect with the next full pay cycle on June 26.
Lundy Covington of Human Resources told the board staff solicited employee feedback after a first presentation on June 3 and made several clarifying edits. Changes clarified retiree‑health insurance eligibility language, corrected a prior ordinance date (01/01/1992 amended to 07/01/1992) and removed an embedded annual‑leave chart in favor of a linked schedule so future adjustments need not amend the ordinance.
On pay and classification matters, staff clarified promotion and reclassification language to specify a one‑grade differential (described as approximately 5% on the county’s salary tables) as an option for increases tied to reclassifications or promotions. HR requested an effective date of June 26 so new pay worksheets and offers align with the next pay period.
After a brief public hearing with no speakers, Commissioner Hauck moved to approve the ordinance revisions “as presented and mentioned in the presentation and in writing.” The board approved the motion by voice vote.
