Council authorizes city administrator to join JAMUC pass-through contract for Stockton Lake storage

The City Council approved a resolution authorizing the city administrator to enter into a pass-through agreement with the Southwest Missouri Joint Municipal Water Utility Commission (JAMUC) to secure reallocated water storage space in Stockton Lake.
Karen Haines explained that, over the past decade, the city and JAMUC have worked to secure an auxiliary water source and that the arrangement includes a future allocation of 2,500,000 gallons per day for the city. The council previously approved a memorandum of understanding with JAMUC in December 2023; tonight’s action authorized the city to join JAMUC’s Corps of Engineers pass-through contract.
Haines told council the city’s proportional share of the Corps contract will be approximately $133,000 per year and that the amount was included in the current year budget. Staff recommended approval, and council approved the resolution on a voice/roll call vote 8-0.
