Council vacates small drainage and access easements for two properties

The Republic City Council approved two vacation ordinances removing small easements from the city’s land records.
Stephanie Fitzpatrick Duncan, an engineer in community development, asked the council to vacate about 100 square feet of an unoccupied drainage easement on West Farm Road 182, saying staff found no adverse impacts to stormwater, utilities or land use and recommended approval. She said recorded documents would be mailed to the property owners after the vacation is recorded.
Patrick Ruiz, associate planner, presented a separate request to vacate an approximately 538-square-foot access easement on Lot 1 of the Towne East Minor Subdivision. Ruiz said the easement was unused for its original access purpose; the owners (Towne East Center LLC and Blue Current Credit Union) had executed a replacement access easement shifted west to support future development. Based on the replacement easement and lack of adverse impacts, staff recommended approval.
Both ordinances received no public comment and passed on second reading and final passage by unanimous roll-call votes (8-0).
