Council approves intergovernmental agreement with Greene County for Shuler Creek Trail maintenance

The Republic City Council voted unanimously to authorize an intergovernmental cooperative agreement with Greene County for maintenance of certain portions of the Shuler Creek Trail.
Karen Haines, the city’s community development director, told council that the IGA covers perpetual maintenance including routine repairs, resurfacing, vegetation management, mowing and trash removal, and that the city will maintain trail signage and pavement markings.
Haines said the agreement also formalizes the city’s role in managing access to the trail, commits the city to work with Greene County on requests for new residential access and driveways, and includes a provision for conveyance of right-of-way to the city over a 10-year period.
No public comment was offered. Council voted 8-0 on final passage of the ordinance authorizing execution of the IGA.
