Tooele County gives update on Peak Sports complex; pool to open spring 2026

Tooele County Parks and Recreation staff provided commissioners an update Tuesday on construction at the Peak Sports Entertainment Complex, including the leisure and lap pools, playgrounds, trails and parking expansion.
Parks project staff reported that exterior pool walls are near completion and that the lap-pool locker-room upgrades will follow. The presenter detailed infrastructure needs: "there will be over 2 linear miles of 16 inch pipe," roughly 25,985 tons of imported fill backfilled up to 17 feet deep, and 6,000 bolts, nuts and washers hand-torqued around the pool perimeter. The pools were described as holding 1,087,037 gallons of water; staff noted the pool will be engineered to settle only one-sixteenth of an inch.
On schedule and timing: staff said the pool construction will be finished this year but will not open until spring 2026. Phase 4 (additional fields and RV parking) is in final review before bidding. The project will add roughly triple the number of parking stalls at the softball and Peakview Park complex, and a destination playground and shade structures are under construction.
Commissioners asked about turf choices and fireworks placement for events; staff and council discussed balancing natural grass and artificial turf and locating RV parking and field layouts to avoid damage from fireworks.
Why it matters: the complex adds recreational capacity, multi-use facilities and parking that county staff said are necessary for tournaments and community events. The county also emphasized parks— role in health, wellness and property values during a broader parks presentation that followed the construction update.
