City manager: early county talks on eFID positive; Newburgh Park pool decision tied to McLean Foundation

Nielsen said discussions remain at an early stage and that county participation would involve sharing property-tax increment inside an eFID; she described the initial outcome as "pretty positive" but cautioned that further meetings are planned. Nielsen also said she spoke with the McLean Foundation about supporting an expansion of Newburgh Park and noted that construction of a potential pool is contingent on McLean's participation. The Redwood Community Recreation and Park District (RCRPD) will take soil samples at the potential pool site at the end of the month so the city will have more information about feasibility and contaminants before decisions are made.
Nielsen also told the council that the city continues to work on franchise-negotiation issues tied to implementation of SB 1383 regarding organics recycling, and that the outcome will affect municipal franchise agreements.
