A commissioner asked the Public Safety Committee on June 16 to begin receiving monthly dispatch breakdowns by public-safety building or fire/EMS station so the committee can assess workload, cancellations and potential over‑dispatching.
The commissioner described wanting data similar to the monthly fire report but broken down by station to show calls by type (structure fires, medical calls, motor vehicle accidents) and by the facility dispatched. "I'd like to get more debate and discussion on it ... the more information I have the better off we all are," the commissioner said.
Chairman Reed and other members discussed bringing Director Chris Clark and Chief Farley back to the committee to determine how feasible station-level monthly reports would be; the chairman agreed to speak with director-level staff to try to assemble the requested breakdown and bring the matter back to the committee at a future meeting. The commissioner withdrew the formal motion after the chairman committed to follow up.
Committee members noted the new dispatch system and CAD data should make reports more feasible, but staff explained that previous requests had been passed between offices; the chairman agreed to coordinate and report back next meeting.
No formal policy or budget action was taken; the committee directed staff to explore the request and return with options for a station-level monthly dispatch breakdown.
