County land-records official urges lawmakers to boost Wisconsin Land Information Program funding via AB216

Nick Gamrath, legislative chair of the Wisconsin Land Information Association and a Trempealeau County land-records official, told legislators the county—s land-information website has seen a 44% usage increase since last year and that counties need more WLIP funding to meet public demand.
"Since last year, we've seen a 44% increase in the usage of our website," Gamrath said. "On a veil average, we're getting about 3,200 people daily using our website." He said the county invested nearly $800,000 back into its program over four years using no levy dollars and that increased WLIP funding under AB216 would help return resources to county general funds.
Gamrath said he testified in Madison on AB216 and encouraged legislators to cosponsor the bill to increase WLIP funding. He told the delegation that WLIP-backed services help title companies, financial institutions and county residents researching property, and that county investment in land information supports other departments and efficiency.
County leaders asked legislators to consider the bill during the current budget and legislative cycle and offered to provide further information to offices that want to cosponsor or learn more about the program.
