Council voted to rezone approximately 18 acres on the west side of Burbank Road to PD (planned development), allowing Weaver Custom Homes to proceed with a proposed 84-unit development including single-family and multi-family structures, a clubhouse and recreation area.
Councilor Maisie Wharton said the rezoning follows a unanimous planning commission recommendation and noted the site sits between Worcester High School and Bueller's Milltown behind North View Alliance. Wharton also noted the city's housing shortage and welcomed local developer Weaver. A developer representative (Mr. Stutzman) was in the audience and took questions about price points.
Council adopted Ordinance number 2025-09 on third reading after a motion by Wharton and a second by Mr. Abernathy; roll-call votes recorded affirmative votes by members present.
Ending: The ordinance was adopted; council indicated it had reviewed the public hearing record and planning-commission recommendation prior to the vote.
