Director White, Bedford County planning director, told the committee on June 10 that county staff have been gathering information about wastewater systems and technologies and aim to present recommendations to the planning commission by August.
“We’ve been working on the wastewater issues as far as just developing ideas…we’re just coalescing information to try to be able to have something to the planning commission by August on the wastewater issue,” White said. She noted another industry presentation is scheduled in July and the county is incorporating that information into the comprehensive plan work.
Commissioners were briefed that the comprehensive‑plan effort is ongoing and that the wastewater workstream is being accelerated to meet planning timelines. No ordinance, regulation change or funding decision was proposed at the meeting; the report was a project update and next steps timeline.
Director White said the department’s objective is to gather technology and siting options and return to the planning commission with a consolidated set of proposals in August for further review and potential action.
