The Hoffman Estates Village Board on June 16 approved multiple planning and land-use items, including a special use and master sign plan amendment, a ComEd substation site plan, a professional-services contract for an access study, and two ordinances authorizing property acquisitions.
The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of an ordinance granting a special use and a master sign plan amendment for the property at 105 East Gulf Road; the board moved, seconded and approved the ordinance by roll call. Chairperson Combs presented the commission’s recommendation and the board recorded the motion as carried.
The board also approved an ordinance granting preliminary and final site plan approval for a ComEd substation located at a record line described in the agenda as “700000000005000 Boulevard.” Trustee Stanton asked whether the site at Trillium Boulevard and Beverly had been the only location considered for the substation. A response on the record said the chosen site was dictated in part by “the location of the lines going across the expressway.” Stanton’s question and the staff response were entered into the record; the measure passed by roll call.
On additional business, the board approved a professional services agreement with Kimberly Horner and Associates of Chicago for the Prairie Stone Parkway Access Study in an amount not to exceed $60,966. The agenda stated the item had not received unanimous committee approval, and the board advanced the contract after discussion and a roll-call vote.
The board also approved two ordinances authorizing acquisition of real property: one described in the meeting as an ordinance authorizing and approving acquisition by negotiation or condemnation for the village of Hoffman Estates, and a second ordinance authorizing acquisition of real property for village purposes at 2305 Pembroke Avenue. Both ordinances were moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
All of the above measures were recorded as passed; roll-call votes were read aloud and the chair declared each motion carried. The meeting record does not list detailed vote tallies for every name on the transcript beyond the roll-call “aye” responses entered into the minutes.
