Plan Commission recommends M2 zoning for 107.6-acre annexed tract in West Bend

The West Bend City Plan Commission voted Wednesday to recommend that the City Council permanently zone about 107.6 acres recently annexed on the south side of East Roscoe Drive and west of South River Road to M2.

The recommendation followed a public hearing on the rezoning that opened and closed the same evening with no members of the public speaking. John (staff member) told the commission the land currently carries temporary zoning pending a permanent zoning decision, and staff would schedule the formal public hearing and final action by the City Council in about a month.

Commission members moved and seconded the recommendation during the meeting; the commission chair called the voice vote and the motion carried. The plan commission’s action is a recommendation only — council will have final authority to approve or deny the M2 zoning. The staff presentation said the rezoning process will return to the commission and then to council on the timeline described.

The item began as an informational public hearing and the commission closed the hearing before taking the recommendation vote. No substantive changes to the proposed zoning designation were recorded at the commission meeting.
