Dr. Gooch, an assistant superintendent, told the school board the district ran summer learning camp (SLC) hubs for third-grade students who scored Level 1 on the Florida Standards Assessments to provide “intensive reading instruction and enrichment,” and said mathematics supports were added because “most of those students also need that support.”
The district also offered a title-funded rising-third-grade program at Title I schools to boost foundational reading and math skills for current second-graders.
