Clifton Heights adopts resolution urging permanent, dedicated funding for SEPTA

Clifton Heights Borough Council unanimously adopted Resolution No. 2025 at its June 17 meeting urging the Pennsylvania governor and General Assembly to establish permanent, dedicated, sustainable funding for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA).
The resolution, introduced by Councilman Cannon, said SEPTA’s role is “invaluable” to Clifton Heights, supporting mobility, reducing air pollution and connecting residents to jobs and services. The text cited reports that funding stagnation and rising costs could otherwise force service cuts of up to 45% and fare increases of more than 20%, and it urged state leaders to budget sufficient resources to restore and expand service, including the Media/Elwyn regional rail line, the Route 102 Sharon Hill trolley and Route 109 bus.
Councilman Cannon read the resolution and Council approved it by voice and roll-call. Council members said they view transit funding as vital to local residents’ daily mobility and the local economy.
