Residents oppose Minor Road extension as county outlines traffic, budget and timeline

County engineer David Riggs and traffic operations manager Fadi Nasar described the project as a missing segment in the roadway network that would be built to carry up to 15,000 vehicle trips and — the county estimates — could shorten some trips by about two miles. “This is a segment that was missing from the roadway network,” Nasar said, and the extension “will carry traffic, but this is traffic being mostly distributed.” Riggs said the project is in the county’s five‑year program and currently at about “65%” design; he said the county plans another community meeting once the 65% drawings are finalized.
Residents at the meeting disputed the county’s traffic modeling and raised concerns about safety, drainage, property takings and noise.…
