Council approves contract with Adlita Construction for Laughlin Gateway streetscape improvements

The Wyoming City Council adopted a resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into a contract with Adlita Construction to construct the Laughlin Gateway Streetscape Improvement Project on the city-owned Mercer property.
Acting City Manager Megan Stapp Blake described the project as work on the north side of the joint gateway with Laughlin at the Mercer surface parking lot. Project plans call for removing pavers, installing an expanded landscape bed with a seat wall and a sign wall matching the Village Green, reducing the drive aisle to add parking spaces, and creating a smoother transition to the new dog park.
Megan said initial bids exceeded the engineer’s estimate; staff and public-works personnel reduced scope and downgraded some materials and the city increased its contribution to the capital improvement program to bring the project within budget. She credited public-works staff for taking on portions of the scope to reduce contractor cost. Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution authorizing the city manager to execute the contract; the motion carried on a recorded voice vote.
The contract will allow construction to proceed; project staff will continue oversight of staging, materials and parking reconfiguration. No timetable for final completion was provided at the meeting.
