Board members say state budget talks likely to preserve AP, IB, ACE and CAPE funding; district watching results

Board member Thorpe told the board: "It does appear that our district will be held harmless. The House and the Senate, I believe, came to agreement on continuing full funding for advanced placement, international baccalaureate, ACE and also, CAPE funding." She added that the agreement was not final: "The ink is not dry on the paper yet."
Board members and the superintendent said the district must continue to prioritize classroom funding while watching state budget conference committee work. One board member thanked the public for patience during the district’s budget process and noted COVID-relief dollars have expired, increasing fiscal pressure.
Separately, Dr. Brewer reported the MTC graduation was recently moved to First Baptist Church and drew about 150 graduates and ‘‘over 1,200 family and friends in attendance,’’ remarks she offered in board comments.
