Henderson County approves proclamation marking 250th anniversary of Bunker Hill

The presentation outlined the Continental Congress actions in May and June 1775, the appointment of George Washington as commander in chief and the June 16-17, 1775, fortifications and fighting commonly associated with Bunker Hill. Siegel described the battleincluding the militia's defense and high British casualtiesand read the proposed proclamation language into the record.
The court discussed the presentation and expressed appreciation for the historical overview. "We enjoy the history lessons every time that you bring one to us," the court said during discussion. Commissioner McCam moved to approve the proclamation; Commissioner Richardson seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The proclamation, as read in court, encourages citizens to join the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution in commemoration activities during the 20242034 decade the organization proclaimed for Revolutionary-era remembrance. The court did not set funding or event dates in this meeting.
