Board approves deducted change order for sports complex, cites insurance settlement delays on ag barn work

The Madison County School Board on June 16 approved a deducted change order for the district sports complex and agricultural facility, reducing the contract amount after the district purchased some equipment (notably lighting) and did some demolition work in-house. The motion passed 5-0.
Facilities staff explained the change order removes items the board had already purchased (including roughly $85,000 in lighting) and credits the district for sales tax savings and in-house demo, bringing the contract down from earlier figures. "We purchased the $85,000 light... so we saved that. So we went down from 760,000 down to I think it was, like, $6.06 6," staff said in explanation.
