A staff member, Hillsborough County nutrition program staff, told attendees the county will provide free breakfast and lunch Monday through Thursday during summer 2025 to any child 18 and under at about 65 mobile sites and 113 school sites. “So we've got about 65 mobile sites throughout Hillsborough County that we take cold breakfast and meals to, Monday through Thursday, and then we also serve hot meals at about 113 school sites,” the staff member said.
The program presentation said mobile sites receive cold meals packed in the county culinary kitchen cold room for distribution and that the service is intended to help families who rely on school meals during the school year. “When school is out, those kids are still hungry. And it's really hard for parents sometimes to be able to provide the same meals. So we're happy to be able to provide those,” the staff member said.
Parents can find nearby summer feeding locations and meal times by visiting www.summerbreakspot.org and entering a ZIP code, the presenter said. “If you click on find a site and put your zip code in, then all the summer feeding sites will show you what's open near you and what the meal times are for breakfast and lunch,” the staff member said.
The remarks were made as an informational presentation; the transcript does not record any formal motions or votes on the program during this meeting. No funding sources, eligibility changes, or other policy actions were specified in the presentation.
