Visalia Unified adopts $505.8 million expenditure budget for 2025–26; reserve sits well above state minimum

The Visalia Unified School District Board of Education unanimously adopted the district’s 2025–26 budget after a second reading and presentation by Finance Director Kyla Johnson.
Johnson summarized the budget, saying general fund revenues total $498,200,000 and general fund expenditures total $505,800,000, with a reserve level of 9.84, which she said is well above the state-required 3% minimum. She told the board there were no changes to the budget or presentation since the first read during the June 10 public hearing.
After a motion by Board Member Randy Vegas and a second, the board voted 6-0 to approve the budget. The district did not present additional amendments at the meeting; staff will proceed with implementation for the 2025–26 fiscal year.
